1. About CarerDirect

CarerDirect is an online directory that connects independent home health carers with families seeking care in South Africa. CarerDirect is not a staffing agency, employment agency, or care provider. We do not employ carers and are not party to any care arrangement made through our platform. All agreements are made directly between the carer and the family.

2. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using carerdirect.co.za you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These terms apply to all users including carers, families, and visitors.

3. Carer accounts

• Carers are responsible for ensuring all information on their profile is accurate, current, and not misleading.
• Uploading false, forged, or misrepresented documents is strictly prohibited and will result in permanent removal from the platform.
• Carers retain ownership of their profile content but grant CarerDirect a licence to display it on the platform.
• Listing fees are charged as described on the pricing page. CarerDirect reserves the right to pause or remove profiles where payment lapses.
• Carers must not contact families through means obtained via the platform for purposes unrelated to care work.

4. Family accounts

• Families may browse the directory without an account. An account and payment are required to access carer contact details.
• Contact details unlocked through a payment are for personal use only. They may not be shared, resold, or published.
• Once-off unlocks (R49) are non-refundable once the contact details have been accessed.
• Monthly subscriptions (R99/month) can be cancelled at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• Families are responsible for conducting their own due diligence before engaging a carer. CarerDirect verification confirms documented credentials but does not guarantee suitability.

5. Payments

All payments are processed by PayFast, a South African payment gateway. CarerDirect does not store card details. All amounts are in South African Rand (ZAR) inclusive of VAT where applicable. Subscription billing is handled by PayFast on a monthly recurring basis.

6. Verification and trust

CarerDirect's verification tiers (Basic, Verified, Background Checked) reflect the documents and references we have reviewed at the time of verification. Verification is not a guarantee of character, ongoing conduct, or fitness for a specific care role. Families should meet with carers in person and form their own judgement before making a hiring decision.

7. Prohibited conduct

• Creating fake, duplicate, or misleading profiles.
• Uploading content that is defamatory, discriminatory, or in violation of South African law.
• Attempting to circumvent the contact unlock system to access carer details without payment.
• Using the platform to solicit carers or families for competing services.
• Automated scraping, crawling, or bulk data extraction.

8. Limitation of liability

CarerDirect provides the platform on an "as is" basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, and we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the platform or from any care arrangement made through it. Our total liability to any user is limited to the amount paid by that user to CarerDirect in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to registered users at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
